SO I have just finished applying to two placement services for teaching in Korea and I also completed a telephone interview to teach in Taiwan earlier this week. Due to my experience here in Japan and my overwhelmingly incredible personality I have no doubts about being accepted by all three and this will allow me to pick the best offer from the three. I will most likely end up in Korea as they not only pay for the flight and provide single apartment housing, but they also pay as much as I am making here in Japan. Coupled with the much cheaper price of living there I would be able to save a great deal of money before coming back for school. Ideally I would like to pay off all of my student loans before returning to business school and Korea offers the best chance of that. My friend who taught there last year said that he was able to save ten thousand dollars over the year and that was while he was living like a king. When I asked him why the money was so good in Korea he explained that not only do they have more of a problem recruiting English teachers as it doesn't have the draw that Japan does, but also that parents throw money at their childrens' education there.
SO it appears it will be sayonara Japan and however you say hello in Korean to Korea!
ALSO in case you weren't jealous enough of my life don't forget I will be having a three month European vacation before going to Korea! 0(^o^)o

That's good about the jobs my only worry is that your head won't be able to fit through the doors in Korea! Korea would be a cool place to go? I don't know much about it but I'm sure it'll be fun. Sounds like your life is pretty awesome right now. Where are our christmas presents? and the presents we were supposed to get before school started?
Well it's good to hear you have several job options-although I am curious as to how you're planning on living in Korea when you don't speak Korean. And this time Ayuko won't be there to bail you out...haha. Anyways, sounds like things are going well so hooray for that. Still can't believe you have three months to travel around Europe-you are so lucky.
That is really great that you'll be able to save a lot of money in Korea though I am also curious how you are going to live there when you don't speak the language. haha but you are super lucky that you get to have a 3 month European vacation! I'll be thinking of you having fun while I'm stuck in school learning things that I'll never use in life, such as history and sigma notation. Anyway I'm glad life is going well and I love you infinity times infinity!

So, I am wondering if you are going to teach Japanese to Korean children, or English to Korean children and how you will function if you do not speak Korean? Is it similar to Japanese? Another thought, do you think there is a reason that Korea doesn't have the pull that Japan does?!! Read the most recent National Geographic magazine -has an interesting article on Korea and maybe some things that you might consider when making your decision. I am personally thinking that staying in Japan is a better idea as I think it is a safer place to be. What does Ayuko think of this plan? What are the living conditions in Korea and would you teach in a big city or out in the country? Check on what immunizations you would need NOW so you can get the immunization series needed. I am pretty sure you would need to start the Hepatitis A series over unless you got a second shot 6 months after you got to Japan. I think you may also need typhoid and yellow fever. Check this out!!! I am glad that you have such a great reputation/resume and know that they will be lucky to get you, no matter where you end up. I am having trouble accessing your blog from AOL and Mary/Dad can't use their names- did you change something when you started blogging again? Reading this over, I sound like a nervous mother and we both know that "Worry" is my middle name. Looking forward to talking to you soon so I can share all my wisdom ;-)
love you and MISS YOU,
Mom
You will celebrate two years in Japan this week - Congrats on being so successful there!!!!
Good luck mate! That's really cool! We've all thought about it but making the leap from Japan to Korea is that much more daunting when we've actually worked a few years in the former. I'm impressed and inspired by your adaptability.
Oops! You must be wondering who the heck I am! I taught in various eikaiwa throughout Japan from 2005, and am going for another round! Plus I did as you're doing -- got married! With son! Here's his blog... Souma to!
